About Me

About Me

Hello, I’m Lucy an independent midwife based in London. I provide personalised antenatal and postnatal care that works alongside your NHS midwife, offering continuity, reassurance, and the kind of unhurried support every family deserves.

My Story

I trained as a midwife in 2019 at the University of West London and have been privileged to support many families through pregnancy, birth, and the early weeks of parenthood.

Alongside my independent practice, I also work as an NHS midwife in a busy London hospital. I carry out a  hybrid role in the NHS which means I care for women both on the wards and in the community – providing antenatal care, postnatal visits, and support at home births.

Through this work, I’ve seen how stretched maternity services can sometimes leave families wishing for more continuity and deeper support. That’s what inspired me to create my independent practice: not to replace your NHS care, but to offer an additional layer of time, guidance, and continuity.

My Philosophy

For me, pregnancy and parenthood are life changing journeys, not just medical events. I believe every family deserves:

  • Continuity of care seeing the same midwife who knows your story and walks beside you.
  • Time and space longer appointments where you never feel rushed.
  • Evidence based support clear, reliable information to help you make informed choices.
  • Compassionate listening a safe, non judgmental space to share your worries, questions, and hopes.

My approach is centred on you and your family, adapting care to your individual needs and values.

What I Offer

Antenatal Care & Guidance

Extended appointments and additional check ins, giving you time to ask questions, prepare your birth plan, and feel supported in your choices.

Postnatal Support

Gentle, ongoing care in the early weeks. From breastfeeding support and recovery guidance to emotional wellbeing and reassurance.

Continuity of Care

While NHS midwives may change from one visit to the next, I’ll be your consistent point of contact throughout pregnancy and beyond.

A Safe Space

I listen without judgment and provide evidence-based information, supporting you in making the decisions that feel right for your family.

Working Alongside the NHS

Independent midwifery is not a replacement for NHS care. Instead, it complements it. You’ll continue to have a named NHS midwife, but by choosing additional support, you’ll benefit from longer, more personalised appointments and continuity throughout your journey.

This partnership means you have the reassurance of the NHS system while also enjoying the time, consistency, and attention that private care can bring.

Why Families Choose Independent Care

Why Families Choose Independent Care

Families often tell me they value:

  • The time to talk openly without feeling rushed.
  • Consistent support from the same person who knows them well.
  • Reassurance at home in a familiar, relaxed environment.
  • Help navigating choices and preparing for birth with confidence.
  • Postnatal guidance during the early overwhelming weeks.

It’s these little things that make a big difference to how parents experience pregnancy and early parenthood.

A Bit About Me

I’m registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and committed to safe, evidence-based practice. Outside of midwifery, I love going to the gym, reformer Pilates, and spending time with my family and friends. Keeping active and connected helps me bring energy and balance into the care I provide.
